Woman killed after Holden Barina collides with prime mover in NSW Riverina

A WOMAN has been killed after the car she was driving collided with a prime mover in the NSW Riverina region.

Police said the 65-year-old woman’s Holden Barina collided with a Kenworth truck on the Mid Western Highway at Gunbar, 60km outside of Hay, around 1.40pm on Wednesday.

Sadly, the woman suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and could not be saved. Police said she died before she could be transported to hospital.

The 59-year-old man who was in control of the truck was not injured. He was taken to Hay Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Officers from Griffith Local Area Command are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A brief report will be prepared for the Coroner.
