Woman killed in head-on crash near Bathurst

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash near Bathurst this morning.

About 6.10am, police and emergency services were called to Sofala Road, Kelso, following reports of a two vehicle crash.

It’s believed a Ford Falcon and a Nissan ute were travelling in opposite directions when they crashed head-on.

The front passenger of the Falcon – a woman believed to be aged in her 30s – died at the scene.

The male driver of the Falcon was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Bathurst Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

The male driver of the Nissan ute was also taken to Bathurst Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Specialist investigators from Crash Investigation Unit are on scene conducting inquiries, and access to Sofala Road is restricted to contraflow.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or the circumstances leading up to the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
