“[the woman] was in her vehicle in the car park when she got out of the car in order for a 72-year-old man to assist her in reversing,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“As the man got into the car, it suddenly travelled in reverse, knocking the woman to the ground and driving over the top of her.”
The vehicle then came to a stop wedged between two parked cars.
The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital where sadly, police confirmed she later died of her injuries.
Police from Brisbane Water Police District are investigating the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
