Woman killed in Northern Tablelands crash

A CAR has rolled in the NSW Northern Tablelands, killing a 76-year-old woman.

Police said the elderly woman was a passenger in the vehicle which left Oakhurst Road at Deepwater, around 40 kilometres north of Glenn Innes, and rolled just after 5am this morning.

She sustained life-threatening injuries. Paramedics worked desperately to keep her alive, but she died at the scene.

The driver, a 36-year-old man was also treated by paramedics before he was taken to Glenn Innes Hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is now underway.
