Woman killed, two others injured after cars collide in regional NSW

ONE woman is dead and two others have been taken to hospital following a nasty crash in regional NSW.

Police say a Nissan Pulsar and Honda HR-V collided on the New England Highway at Moonbi, around 30km outside of Tamworth, just after 8am on Friday.

The driver of the Nissan Pulsar, an 82-year-old woman, sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision. She was treated by paramedics at the scene by paramedics but sadly died on her way to hospital.

The driver of the Honda, a 61-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 46-year-old woman, sustained only minor injuries.

They were both assessed by paramedics at the scene before being transported by ambulance to Tamworth Base Hospital for further treatment.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation. Anyone with information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
