Woman left unconscious after horror roadside sex attack

POLICE are hunting for a sexual predator who beat a woman unconscious and assaulted her in a shocking roadside attack after her car broke down on the Darling Downs, west of the Gold Coast.

The 22-year-old woman was travelling home from work in Warwick when her 1998 Nissan Patrol broke down on Rose Street, between Horsman and Hawker roads, around 6.15pm on Tuesday.

Police said a man driving a white ute pulled over and offered to help the young woman before violently attacking her.

After looking under the bonnet of the 4WD, the man allegedly slammed the woman’s head into the vehicle, knocking her unconscious, and sexually assaulted her on the side of the road.

Recounting her horrific ordeal in an interview with Nine News, the woman said she ‘came to’ during the attack but the man knocked her unconscious a second time and continued to sexually assault her before driving off.

The woman, who remained anonymous, said the man appeared perfectly normal until she turned her back.

She said he followed her as she walked around to the back of the vehicle to shut the rear door and struck while she wasn’t looking.

“He’s grabbed the back of my head and slammed it into the back of my car and then I’ve just blacked out from that,” the victim said.

“I came to once and he was over top of me and he’s hit me across the side of the face. I’ve gone back unconscious (and) when I came to (again) he was gone.”

The 22-year-old told Nine News she woke after the attack to find her clothes torn and her pants pulled down.

Police said the woman was taken to Warwick Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The assault occurred on Rose Street, on the left-hand side of the road, approximately 50 metres past the intersection with Horsman Road, heading towards the Warwick Golf Course.

Police are still searching for the woman’s attacker, who was driving a white single cab ute with a silver tray back and sides.

He has been described as being Caucasian, approximately 175cm tall and aged between 30 to 40 with a chubby build, short dark hair and full dark beard.

He was wearing a dark blue tradie shirt with sleeves rolled up, matching shorts and tradie style boots.
