Woman mauled after breaking into zoo, attempting to pat tiger while drunk

A WOMAN who broke into a US zoo while drunk has been mauled after attempting to pat a tiger.

Jacqueline Eide, 33, scaled the fence of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium and broke in as part of an alleged Halloween Prank.

While inside the zoo, Ms Eide attempted to pat  an 18-year-old Malayan tiger named Mai, who then attacked the woman, leaving her with serious injuries to her hand.

The woman was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time.

The zoo has since issued a statement, claiming they will be tightening security.

“The safety and security of our guests and animals are always a priority at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium,” executive director and CEO Dennis Pate said on Facebook.

“We have added security cameras, new path lighting and computer-controlled locks to track exit and entry. Additional path lighting is planned for the new African Grasslands exhibit and more cameras will be installed to monitor the grounds and gates.”
