Woman pulled from wreckage after cars collide in GC hinterland

LATEST @ 1.15 PM | A woman has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition following a horror two-car smash in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Two cars collided along Beaudesert Nerang Road at Witheren just after 11.30am, trapping one of the motorists, a woman, inside her vehicle.

Emergency crews had to use special equipment to free the woman, aged in her 30s, from the wreckage.

She was then treated at the scene by critical care paramedics for pelvic and chest injuries before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

A man and little girl, both from the second vehicle, were also injured in the crash and have been taken to hospital in stable conditions.

The man, aged in his 40s, suffered neck pain, while the child sustained injuries from a seat belt.

The Forensic Crash Unit is on scene, with motorists urged to avoid the area.

EARLIER @ 12.30 PM | Emergency crews are currently on the scene of a serious accident along a notorious stretch of road in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Two cars collided along Beaudesert Nerang Road at Witheren just after 11.30am.

Critical Care Paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews and Police worked together to free a woman, who was trapped in one of the vehicles following the crash.

She is currently being placed into the back of an ambulance and is expected to be taken to hospital shortly.

Her condition remains unknown at this stage.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC a male adult and child were also injured in the smash.

The man was treated for neck pain, while the youngster suffered seat belt injuries. They are also expected to be transported to hospital.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
