Woman punched, dragged into car in terrifying attempted kidnapping

A woman has been punched in the face and dragged into a car in a terrifying attempted kidnapping in Sydney.

The 27-year-old woman was walking towards the railway station in Burwood about 10.15am on Sunday 4 June when she was approached by a man who spoke to her.

Police said the woman attempted to walk around the man, however he immediately grabbed her and dragged her towards a car on the opposite side of the road.

The man then punched the woman in the face before throwing her into the rear of the car.

Luckily, a witness driving past ran to the woman’s aid, allowing her to escape.

The man then drove off.

Police are now hunting her attacker. He is believed to be aged in his mid 20’s, Caucasian appearance, about 180-190cm tall with a muscular build. At the time he was wearing a dark blue coat.

He was driving a blue 2007 model Holden Captiva SUV with QLD registration plates 362RUL.

Police are warning members of the public not to approach the vehicle if sighted, but to call Triple Zero ‘000’ immediately.
