Woman punched to the ground in violent armed robbery at Southport

A woman has been punched numerous times during an armed robbery in Southport.

The woman in her 20’s was walking along Nerang St around 8pm when she was approached by two girls who demanded money.

The woman refused before the two girls allegedly punched the woman several times in her head and body knocking her to the ground.


The victim yelled for help prompting the girls to run off.

The woman was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Police later arrested two 14-year-old girls following an investigation.

One of the girls from Banora Point has been charged with attempted armed robbery and stealing.

The second girl from Coolangatta has also been charged with attempted armed robbery.
