Woman raped by home intruder in Ashmore

POLICE have charged a man after it is alleged a woman was horrifically raped in her home at Ashmore yesterday.

At 5pm it is alleged a 27-year-old man unlawfully entered the Ashmore home and struck a 29-year-old woman on the back of the head before sexually assaulting her.

He then sped off in the victims car leaving the woman to flee to a neighbours home.

When police located the man last night it is alleged he failed to comply and a taser was used.

The Surfers Paradise man will face Southport Magistrates court today charged with burglary, assault with intent to rape, rape, deprivation of liberty, armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, serious assault police and wilful damage.
