Woman run over and killed by 4WD was lying on the road, police say

A WOMAN has been run over and killed in a small country town in the far southwest corner of NSW.

It happened in the southern border town of Wentworth just after 11 o’clock on Friday night.

Police said the 29-year-old woman was run over by a Toyota Landcruiser on Pooncarie Road.


The woman was reportedly lying across the road when she was struck.

Police from Barrier Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

The driver of the Landcruiser, a 50-year-old man, was not physically injured.

He was taken to Wentworth Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
