Woman rushed to hospital after being mauled by a pack of dogs in NSW

A WOMAN is in a serious condition in hospital tonight after being mauled by a pack of vicious dogs in Sydney.

The 58-year-old woman sustained several severe bites to her arms, legs, and buttocks after being set upon by three dogs while walking along Joffre Crescent at Daceyville around 1pm on Friday.

Bystanders raced to the woman’s aid after hearing her terrifying screams for help and dragged her behind a security fence outside a dental clinic to safety.

The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Prince Of Wales Hospital.

Police said she was transported in a serious condition.

She was the second person to be attacked by the savage dogs in just a matter of just minutes.

They had locked their sights on the woman just moments after ambushing a man outside his home nearby.

The animals surrounded the man on the road before charging at him and launching a rapid, ferocious attack.

The man was bitten on the leg and back and was forced to jump onto his car to escape.

His injuries were less severe however and he was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Police and council rangers were called and worked together to round up and catch the rogue dogs which are tonight being held at the St George Council pound.

Sam Sliz from Bayside Council told Nine News there is a possibility the dogs could be destroyed.

Their breed is not known.
