She was stabilised by paramedics at the scene before being transported by ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Thankfully, police said the woman’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The 69-year-old woman behind the wheel of the car was picking up a relative who was waiting in the driveway of the home when the crash occurred, police said in a statement.

She slipped into shock and needed to be treated by paramedics at the scene before she was taken to the same hospital for assessment and mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken with police is urged to come forward.
