Woman sexually assaulted, man bashed in ski fields attack

A woman has been sexually assaulted and a man bashed in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains.

The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday morning shortly after the pair left a pub in Jindabyne.

Police say the 22-year-old woman and 25-year-old man were walking along Kosciuszko Rd around 1.30am when they were approached by a group of men opposite Foreshore Park.

The man was knocked unconscious after being punched in the head before one of the men physically and sexually assaulted the woman.

The man regained consciousness and tried to help the woman but was assaulted again before flagging down a passing car, forcing the men to flee.

Paramedics treated the pair at the scene for serious facial injuries before the woman was taken to hospital in Canberra.

Police have released a description of one of the men who is believed to be about 180cm tall with a solid build, wearing a light-coloured hooded jumper.

Police are also seeking anyone who may have dashcam footage from the vicinity around the time of the attack.
