Woman sexually assaulted on her way home from night out

A man has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Sydney’s East.

Police say that at around 3.00am on Sunday 15 May, a woman left a licensed premises on Avoca Street Randwick when she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man while attempting to make her way home.

Police commenced an investigation and just before 4pm yesterday, a 55-year-old man handed himself into Maroubra Police Station where he was arrested and charged with sexual assault without consent.

He was granted conditional bail to appeal at Waverly Local Court on Wednesday 3 August.
