Woman sought refuge in bathroom after intruders smash into home

Police have charged a man and woman over an alleged break-and-enter incident in Deniliquin.

About 2.30am today (Thursday 16 July 2015), a 31-year-old woman was asleep in her Corbett Court home when two people allegedly broke in by smashing a window.

The woman sought refuge in the bathroom.


The alleged intruders attempted to gain entry to the bathroom, causing significant damage to the bathroom door.

The woman called police.

Officers from Deniliquin Local Are Command arrived a short time later, and arrested a 26-year-old man and 25-year-old woman at the scene.

Police took the pair to Deniliquin Police Station, where they were charged with aggravated break and enter with intent to commit serious indictable offence.

The man and woman have been granted conditional bail to appear in Deniliquin Local Court on 18 August 2015.
