Woman stabbed in head after intervening in neighbour’s dispute

A WOMAN has been stabbed in the back of the head during an altercation at an apartment building in Melbourne.

Police said a man was yelling outside a unit on the ground floor of the multi-storey building on Florence Street in Port Melbourne around 9.45pm last night.

The female occupant opened her front door and told the man to leave. Instead of walking away, police said the man approached the door and slashed at the security screen with a knife.

The man then allegedly turned on the woman’s next door neighbour who had also come outside and told him to leave.

Police said an altercation took place during which the 30-year-old woman was attacked with the knife.

Police said the woman received a slash wound to the back of her head.

The man ran from the scene. He remains at large.
