Woman stabbed by teenage boy at Qld care facility

A teenage boy is on the run after stabbing a woman at Kearneys Spring this afternoon.

Police say that around midday, a 46-year-old woman located a teenage boy attempting to force open a washing machine’s coin dispenser at a care facility on the corner of West and Spring streets.

The boy allegedly threatened the woman with a knife and demanded she open the coin holder.

She did not comply and was struck with a knife, causing a three to four centimeter long superficial wound to her stomach.

The woman was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital for treatment.

Detectives have recovered the knife allegedly used in the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the West and Spring street area around midday and who may have seen a boy wearing a black or dark-coloured hooded jumper to contact Crime Stoppers.

Investigations are continuing.
