A WOMAN has been stabbed to death and a child, believed to be her son, injured in a suspected domestic violence attack in Far North Queensland.
Police were called to a disturbance at an address in the Aboriginal Shire of Kowanyama about 1am on Thursday.
They arrived to find the 27-year-old woman with stab wounds to her neck and chest.

The woman was taken to the Kowanyama Health Clinic where sadly, she died a short time later.
A seven-year-old boy, believed to be the woman’s son, was also wounded in the attack.
He was rescued by a neighbour after being found stabbed on a footpath.
It’s understood the child was stabbed in the buttocks and had ran out of the home after the attack.
Thankfully, the boy’s injuries are not life-threatening. He was taken to Cairns Hospital for treatment.
A 29-year-old man known to the both the woman and child has been arrested and was assisting detectives with their inquiries on Thursday afternoon.
Two crime scenes have been established as investigations continue.
