Teen charged after woman stabbed while sunbaking on Qld beach

LATEST @ September 14, 6.45 AM | A teenage boy has been charged over the alleged stabbing attack of a young woman on a popular beach in Mackay.

Police allege the 23-year-old woman was sunbathing on Blacks Beach on Monday morning when she was approached by an unknown male who stabbed her multiple times in the neck and body.

The male fled the scene while the woman stumbled to a nearby construction site for help before being rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

Thankfully her injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening and she is recovering this morning.

Following investigations, police have since charged a 16-year-old boy with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

The juvenile has been refused bail to appear at the Mackay Children’s Court today

EARLIER @ September 13, 3.00 PM | A woman has been left seriously injured after being stabbed multiple times while sunbaking on a beach in Mackay.

Police and paramedics rushed to Blacks Beach just before 12.30 on Monday afternoon, finding a 23-year-old woman with numerous stab wounds.

It’s believed the woman was approached by a male while sunbaking before being stabbed multiple times in the neck and body.

The male fled the scene while the woman stumbled to a nearby construction site for help.

The woman was rushed to hospital in a serious condition but Police say her injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

A 16-year-old male has since been taken into custody and is being questioned by Police.
