A WOMAN is fighting for her life in hospital after suffering horrific burns in a fire that consumed a granny flat in Sydney’s south-west overnight.

Police said the 82-year-old woman was trapped inside the flat which went up in flames on Beatham Place at Milperra around 9pm.

Three men aged 52, 54 and 61 braved the flames and ran into the burning building to rescue the woman.

The 82-year-old suffered extensive burns and smoke inhalation during the horrific ordeal.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital where police said she remained in critical condition this morning.

Police said the three men who rushed to her aid were also taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.

The fire consumed the entire granny flat, burning it and a nearby garage to the ground.
