Woman suffers serious burns in house fire

TWO women have been rushed to hospital – one of them with serious burns – following a house fire on the NSW South Coast.

Firefighters were called to the home on Scott Street at Shoalhaven Heads just before 3.30am on Saturday.

They arrived to find the dwelling well-alight and three occupants – two women and a man – gathered outside.

A 47-year-old woman had suffered serious burns to her body and was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital for treatment.

Police said she was in a serious condition.

The second woman, 69, was also taken to the same hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

The 77-year-old man was not injured.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire, but sadly not before it caused significant damage to the home.

Police have established a crime scene as they try and determine what sparked the blaze.
