Woman traumatised after terrifying attempted sexual assault in Sydney alleyway

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a young woman was approached by a man who tried to sexually assault her in Sydney’s south overnight.

The terrifying encounter occurred just after 10.20pm, when the 19-year-old was walking in an alleyway which links Willarong Road and Curtis Street at Caringbah.

Police said the woman fell to the ground after being grabbed from behind by a man. Whilst on the ground, the man then made attempts to sexually assault her.


The woman was able to fight the man off and run away, however her handbag was left at the scene.

A crime scene has been established, with the attacker being described as dark skinned, 170-175cm tall, of a solid build, and he was wearing a grey jumper.

Police have identified a small number of witnesses, however are appealing for anyone else with information to come forward.
