Woman’s body found with “horrific” injuries on Qld street

A man has been arrested over the suspicious death of a woman who was found with “horrific” injuries on a Nambour Street early this morning.

Emergency services rushed to Matthew Street around 1.30am after receiving several triple-zero calls.

Upon arrival, they found a 31-year-old woman suffering significant head and chest injuries.

“First responders engaged in CPR but her injuries were horrific,” Detective Inspector Dave Drinnen said.

The woman could not be revived and died at the scene.

Police with the assistance of the Dog Squad, conducted searches of the surrounding area and later located a 34-year-old man, who remains in custody.

A crime scene has also been declared and an Incident Centre established with detectives from the Sunshine Coast and forensic officers continuing their investigations.

Detective Inspector Drinnen said the man and women were known to each other.

“We believe they are known to each other, but as to how that acquaintance goes, it is too early to know,” he said.

Anyone with further information is urged to contact police.
