A worker has been rushed to hospital after falling through the roof of an asbestos-ridden house on the Gold Coast.
The accident occurred just after 8.45am at a home on Shillito Street at Southport.
Southport fire station officer Tony Chicco said the man was working inside the roof cavity of the home, which was being demolished, when he fell through the fibro sheeting which had asbestos inside it.

Paramedics treated the worker at the scene for suspected spinal injuries and asbestos contamination. He has since been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
Three ambulance officers were also treated at the scene for asbestos contamination.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson confirmed Workplace Health and Safety have been contacted.
