World Masters Golf tees off on the Gold Coast

AUSTRALIA’S biggest and richest tournament for club golfers tees off on the Gold Coast this morning.

Event organisers expect more than 800 golfers and visitors to attend the week-long tournament.

Open to male and females over the age of 35, golfers will compete across 15 divisions based on age and golfing skill.

World Masters Managing Director Peter McCarthy said he is thrilled with the response to this year’s tournament.

“We have golfers from China competing for the first time and many more will come in future years,” he said.

“Mirroring the marketing efforts of Gold Coast Tourism in China, we now have representation in China and a strong plan to welcome many more golfers to the Gold Coast.”

All golfers will play the Glades, Lakelands, Palmer Gold Coast and RACV Royal Pines courses.
