Would-be carjacker forced to flee on foot after failing to start car

POLICE are searching for a man who tried carjacking a woman at knife-point in broad daylight in Brisbane.

The woman was sitting in her car on Denham Street in Annerley when a man walked up and pulled a knife on her just before 3.30pm on Friday.

Police said the man demanded the woman’s car and tried drive off in the vehicle but he was unable to start the car and ended up fleeing on foot.


Thankfully, the woman was not physically harmed during the frightening incident.

Police are still searching for the man, described as being African in appearance, approximately 170cm tall and having a medium build.

He was last seen running down Florence Street, wearing dark coloured pants and a hooded jumper.

Anyone with any information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to come forward and call police.
