WPT League Quarterly Poker Championship coming to the GC this month

Some of the best poker players in south east Queensland will go head to head at the WPT League Quarterly Poker Championship on the Gold Coast later this month.

The championship will take over the Gold Coast Turf Club and Event Centre from February 24-28, with 22 poker events to take place across five days.

Head of Event Management for WPT League, Mitch Caton, told myGC this is one tournament poker players don’t want to miss.

“This event is something big for the Gold Coast. It’s a casino quality experience, with a total series guarantee of $550,000,” he said.

“We are catering to everyone, from lower stakes through to higher stakes, with event buy-ins ranging from $40 all the way up to $3,000.”

WPT Anchor Lynn Gilmartin will be there for the main event, which has a huge prize pool.

“The main event is just $175 to enter for your chance at a piece of the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool,” she said.

“There is also a $25,000 player of the series leaderboard, for those of you who will be diving into the full schedule.”

Mr Caton said they are expecting close to 2000 people to attend the championship.

“All events are open to the public, and we encourage those wanting to take part to register for a player account online at au.wptleague.com,” he said.

“For those who can’t make it, you can follow all the action live at facebook.com/WPTLLive including a livestream of the feature table on our state of the art RFID table, where you can see the players cards on a 30 minute delay, proudly brought to you by LCA Poker and Faded Spade.”
