A 12-year-old boy has died on a water slide at a water park in Kansas in the United States.
The tragic accident occurred on Sunday local time, Kansas Police confirmed.
At a press conference, a spokesperson for the water park said her “thoughts and prayers are with the young boy’s family during this difficult time.”

“We are saddened to share that a young boy died on Verruckt this afternoon,” the water park spokesperson said.
“Given that safety is our first priority, we have closed our Kansas City park and we have closed the ride pending a full investigation.”

The water park’s website previously stated that the Verruckt is the largest water slide in the world – however the ride has since been taken off a list of attractions at the park.
