Young boy killed in horror kite surfing accident
A teenage boy has died following a horrific kite surfing accident in Sydney’s south.
Police say the 14-year-old was kite surfing off Silver Beach in Kurnell around 5.30pm on Saturday, when he got caught in a gust of wind and landed heavily on rocks.
He suffered severe injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics following a major rescue operation.
The boy was then airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition, where sadly he died a short time later.
It’s understood officers from the Marine Area Command are conducting inquiries into the incident and are speaking to family and witnesses.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
