Young boy rushed to hospital after being bitten by dog in NSW

A young boy is recovering in hospital after being attacked by a dog in Newcastle yesterday.

Police said the 8-year-old boy was walking in a paddock around 3.10pm when he approached the back fence of a home in Edgeworth.

A dog then approached the fence from the other side, before reaching through and biting the boy a number of times.


Emergency crews treated the boy at the scene before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital o be treated for a fractured forearm and several bite marks.

Police said the owner of the dog has been spoken to, and that officers from Lake Macquarie are investigating the incident with local council.
