Young girl asked if she ‘wanted a lift’ in frightening child approach

Police are conducting inquiries after a young girl was approached by a man in a carpark at Pennant Hills.

Around 3.30pm on Tuesday 8 September 2015, an eight-year-old girl was walking with her two brothers along Yarrara Road.

The two boys ran ahead of the girl, and, as she passed a public car-park, a man stepped out of a vehicle and asked her if she wanted a lift.

The girl did not respond and ran from the scene.

The matter was reported to police yesterday (Wednesday 9 September 2015) and officers from the Ryde Local Area Command are now conducting inquiries.

The man who spoke to the girl is described as being around 50 years old, of thin build, with black curly hair and blue eyes. The car he stepped out of is only described as a white SUV.
