Young girl dies on Gold Coast’s M1, prompting its partial closure

A teenage girl has died following an accident which forced the partial closure of the Pacific Motorway on the Gold Coast last night.

It is understood the accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the M1 at Palm Beach, near Palm Beach Avenue, at around 8pm.

All southbound lanes of the motorway were closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.


It is understood the young girl was struck by a car after walking into the path of oncoming traffic.

She died at the scene. Her exact age is unclear.

Traffic was diverted around the scene of the accident via the Gold Coast Highway.
