Young girl left terrified after being approached by man

Police are appealing for information after a girl was approached at Ashfield last week.

About 3.15pm Thursday 10 September 2015, a 13-year-old girl was walking along the eastern footpath on Frederick Street towards a bus stop near Eccles Avenue.

The girl walked past an older-model silver sedan stopped in traffic, which had three occupants.

Police have been told a male in the back seat of the car shouted to the girl.

The girl continued to walk towards the bus stop, when the same man left the car, stretched his arms, and took a step towards her, when the girl walked into Eccles Avenue and alerted her mother.

Officers attached to Ashfield Local Area Command were alerted of the incident on Friday (11 September 2015), and commenced investigations.

As inquiries into the incident continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, in his early 20s, with a pale complexion and a light-coloured moustache.

The man was seen wearing a grey-hooded jumper and dark-blue tracksuit pants with ‘19’ printed on the right leg in white.
