A young Gold Coast man has died in hospital, almost a week after he was knocked out during a violent brawl in northern NSW.
Jesse Vilkelis Curas was with friends at an East Ballina pub last Sunday when a dispute reportedly broke out over a spilled beer around 8.00pm.
During the brawl, the 24-year-old was allegedly set upon and assaulted.

He was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital with critical injuries, where sadly he passed away about 2.30pm on Boxing Day.
Tributes are flooding social media, with Mr Vilkelis Curas being described as a “much loved” and “kind hearted” young man.
“Jesse life support machine was switched off, coward punch ended a beautiful young mans life,” one woman wrote.
“While these little cowards celebrated Christmas with family, Jesse family n friends sat by his bed praying for a miracle that did not happen, no pending outcome for the family, their son, brother, grandson n friend is gone.”
Investigations are continuing.
