Young man stabbed during altercation at NSW park

A man has been charged following investigations into the stabbing of a man in Punchbowl yesterday.

About 7.20pm Sunday 29 November, police were called to a home on Kentucky Road, Riverwood, where they found a man suffering a stab wound to his back.

He was taken to St George Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Detectives from Campsie are investigating the matter and believe the incident took place at a park at the end of Bell Street, Punchbowl, where the 18-year-old and his younger brother met four males.

An altercation took place resulting in the 18-year-old suffering the stab wound. The four males ran from the park and the two brothers walked back to their Kentucky Road home where emergency services were called.

One of the group, a man aged 21, was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

He has been refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court today (Monday 30 November 2015).

Investigations are continuing.
