Young man threatened with pistol in violent robbery

A MAN has been violently knocked to the ground, threatened with a pistol and robbed in Maroubra overnight.

About 9.45pm, a 21-year-old man got off a bus on Malabar Road and started walking down a laneway that joins onto Hargraves Place.

As he walked down the laneway he was struck from behind by a man described as being aged in his early 20’s and of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance.

The force of the hit knocked the man to the ground where he was then threatened with a pistol and forced to hand over his mobile phone.

The armed man ran from the scene with a second man who was waiting at the end of the laneway.

The injured man was taken to Prince Of Wales Hospital for treatment to cuts and bruising to his head face.

A crime scene was established in the laneway and police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command are conducting a full investigation.
