Young mum attacked, baby injured after intruder storms home in broad daylight

POLICE are hunting a man who broke into a house in broad daylight and attacked a woman and her eight-month-old baby in country NSW.

The intruder forced his way into the 29-year-old woman’s Day Street home in the regional city of Wagga Wagga, about 4.40pm on Friday.

Police said the man, who was a stranger to the family, attacked the young mother, injuring both her and her baby daughter, before fleeing.

That’s when police say the woman alerted her husband and the couple reported the incident at Wagga Wagga Police Station.

Detectives established a crime scene at the family’s home and are appealing for assistance from the public.

Anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the attack and saw anything suspicious is urged to call Wagga Wagga Police on (02) 6922 2599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
