A YOUNG woman is in a serious condition after almost drowning at a beach on the Gold Coast.
The dramatic scenes unfolded in Coolangatta on Sunday afternoon.
It’s understood surf lifesavers pulled the 20-year-old woman from the surf just after 2.30pm and began treating her on the sand until emergency services arrived.

The Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed it responded to a ‘post immersion incident’ at 2.41pm.
Multiple ambulances were dispatched to the beach off Marine Parade, near Hill Street, where paramedics took over treating the woman before rushing her to hospital.
She was transported to Tweed Heads Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
