Man charged after young woman struck and killed by truck in NSW

UPDATE @ 2.30pm: A man has been charged after a woman struck and killed by a truck whilst crossing a road at Caringbah, in southern Sydney this morning.

Just after 7.40am, emergency services raced to The Kingsway, near the intersection of Port Hacking Road, following reports of a serious accident.

Police said initial investigations suggest the 26-year-old woman was hit by a prime mover as she was crossing The Kingsway.

Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, the woman died at the scene.

The driver of the prime mover, a 59-year-old man, was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory testing.

He was then taken to Miranda Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death.

He is due to appear in Sutherland Local Court on 8 December.

EARLIER @ 11.00am: A woman has died after being hit by a truck whilst trying to cross a road at Caringbah, in southern Sydney this morning.

Just after 7.40am, emergency services raced to The Kingsway, near the intersection of Port Hacking Road, following reports of a serious accident.

Police said initial investigations suggest the 26-year-old woman was hit by a prime mover as she was crossing The Kingsway.

Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, the woman died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.

The driver of the prime mover, a 59-year-old man, was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
